You deserve exceptional dental care and unsurpassed results. We’re glad that you’ve chosen Prosthetic Dentistry of Washington D.C. to meet your needs.
Our team wants to make your first visit as easy as possible. On this page, find out what you should do before your appointment and what you can expect when you arrive.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule your initial visit, call 202-244-2101 today. Our practice serves Washington D.C., Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Arlington, and nearby areas of Maryland and Virginia.
We will review your medical and dental histories as well as any specific concerns you have at this time. Should you have a dental problem that needs immediate attention, we will make every effort to provide you with the appropriate care during your first visit.
To save time in our office, our Patient Registration Forms are available for you to fill out at home prior to your appointment. Please remember to bring the completed forms with you to your first appointment, along with:
- Your referral slip and any X-rays if applicable.
- A list of medications you are currently taking.
- If you have dental insurance, we will provide you with the necessary information to expedite your insurance reimbursement.
Your Initial Records
A comprehensive examination will be recorded in a charting that included an analysis of your existing restorations, your soft tissues to rule out lesions, a periodontal charting (a gum and bone support assessment), and an evaluation of your occlusion (bite). Additionally, we will evaluate any X-rays and/or models that you have brought, or if necessary, we will take Digital Radiographs and Digital Images (intraoral pictures) to supplement your records.
A full mouth set of X-rays is a critical tool in diagnosis. If your dentist has taken X-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If necessary, we can arrange to perform our own digital radiographs. Our digitally enhanced X-ray images provide minimal exposure.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, coumadin, artificial joint replacements, etc.).
Information About Your Visit With New COVID-19 Protocols
We created a strict Covid-19 infection control protocol for the safety of our patients and staff. While Prosthetic Dentistry of Washington D.C. has always been at the forefront of safety and comfort, we have recently incorporated new recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Learn how our protocols will affect your visit by clicking the link above. We appreciate your confidence in us to provide you with exceptional care in a very safe environment.
Your Dental Consultation
Most often, you will have a separate consultation appointment to review our findings, in detail, from your initial examination. During the consultation, we will review your existing condition and present all available treatment plans. With the aid of digital images, we will demonstrate how new dental technologies may benefit you in your choices of treatment.
Consultations are scheduled at the end of the day to allow sufficient time to address all of your questions and concerns. Dr. Marlin will sit with you to discuss the end result and how those changes will affect your mouth, smile, and overall health and appearance. You can ask questions, have procedures clarified, and ensure that you will be comfortable with any work that will be performed.
See one patient's journey from initial consultation to comprehensive, customized treatment.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.
As a prosthodontist, Dr. Marlin works with other specialists and/or general dentists when providing treatment. While many of our patients are referred to us by other practitioners, many of our patients refer their family or friends.
We recognize that referrals are a sign of trust and confidence in our practice and our work. We appreciate our patients' and other dentists' confidence and will do everything in our power to continue to earn your trust.
A professional referral is not required to schedule an appointment with our office.
Problem Solving and Coordination of Treatment
In addition to handling simple dental needs, we are often called upon to problem solve more challenging cases, such as complete smile makeovers. Should the services of another specialist be required or if we are working with your general dentist, we will assist you with the coordination of your treatment with the other practitioners.
