What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. However, they are not applicable in every situation.

Case 1

Cosmetic veneers

Placing custom porcelain veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. Dr. Marlin in his Washington DC dental office places porcelain veneers routinely and design each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile.

“Best Prosthodontist in the DC/MD/VA area. I personally experienced Dr. Marlin’s professional and expert attention in inserting and restoring 2 implants and 6 crowns over a period of 15 years. He pays great attention to detail, has an efficient and prompt staff and makes sure that the process results in a successful conclusion.”

Will Veneers Look Like Normal Teeth?

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. They provide a very natural appearance. With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile. However, veneers should not be placed on teeth with large restorations or with significant discolorations, or if the teeth, themselves, are not inherently strong. In these instances, the esthetic restorations of choice are crowns.

Refraining from using your porcelein veneers as tools to open and cut things will prolong their life. If accidental breakage or damage occurs, it is usually possible to replace only the porcelein veneer involved. Please contact Dr Gerald Marlin in his Washington DC dental office for more information about porcelein veneers.
